Taylor Swift celebrates Selena Gomez’s engagement to Benny Blanco

Taylor Swift has offered to be in the bridal party at Selena Gomez’s upcoming wedding, one of her closest friends.

On Wednesday, the Only murder in the building star announced her engagement to music producer Benny Blanco in an Instagram post.

“Forever begins now,” Gomez captioned the post, which included photos of the singer showing off her diamond engagement ring and the newly engaged couple embracing.

More than 7.5 million people liked the post, and commenters – fans and other celebrities alike – rushed to congratulate the happy couple.

Swift was among those who commented on the post, offering to be involved in her longtime friend’s big day.

“Yes, I want to be the flower girl,” Swift wrote.

Newsweek has reached out to representatives for Swift and Gomez for comment via email outside normal business hours.

Gomez and Blanco, who collaborated on the 2019 single “I Can’t Get Enough” with Tainy and J Balvin, were first linked as a couple in June 2023.

The music producer also commented on Gomez’s Instagram post announcing their engagement, writing, “Hey wait… that’s my wife.”

Their engagement may not come as a surprise to many of their fans, as Gomez and Blanco have been gushing over each other publicly for months.

“I’ve never been loved like this. He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything,” Gomez shared Vanity Fair in September.

She even took to the comments section of an Instagram fan account dedicated to her to declare her love for Blanco.

“He is my absolute everything in my heart,” she wrote on a post that included a photo of the pair.

Earlier this year, a month after Gomez and Blanco made their red carpet debut at the Emmys, she opened up about their relationship.

“Without going into too much detail, I think it’s really important to meet someone who respects you,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “And I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world I live in. But I have to say that, overall, it’s the safest I feel, and it’s been really nice, and I’ve only grown through it, so that’s great.”

Blanco had already dropped the idea of marriage in a May interview on Howard Stern’s radio show.

“When I look at her … I’m always like, I don’t know a world where it could be better than this,” he said.

He also opened up to The The Wall Street Journal about how their relationship blossomed organically.

“I was the last to know,” Blanco said. “It’s crazy how your partner can just sit there all the time, right in front of your eyes, and you don’t even notice, and then you have Ignorant moment where you’re like, ‘wait, I’m in love’.”
