Abilene Christian vs Baylor Prediction, Odds & Picks

As most teams across the country look to the final few pre-conference games, we head to the heart of Texas for an Abilene Christian Wildcats vs Baylor Bears prediction. Baylor returns home after a tough loss to UConn (and one of the most brutal blown covers of the year) and they have 3 non-conference matchups to go right before Big 12 play begins. ACU is on the final leg of a nearly month-long road trip, and this will be their biggest benchmark game of the year. There is no doubt that Baylor is by far the better team, and the 22 point spread is indicative. However, Baylor has some injury issues that have me worried about this spread number, so my favorite play is the game total over 142.5.

The injury concerns are twofold. First, star freshman VJ Edgecombe sat out the UConn game with a lingering hamstring injury. As is always the case with college teams, we don’t really know his status or how long the Bears might need to rest him. Second, veteran point guard Jeremy Roach left the UConn game with a head injury and was placed in concussion protocol. Again, it is not yet clear what his availability will be on Monday. If both (or one) of these guys play, you can probably use a Baylor cover here. If they don’t, ACU could be stuck. Either way, I expect points. The Wildcats are unlikely to hold off Baylor no matter who plays. If Baylor is at full strength, this could reach the 90-60 level. If Baylor is limited, we may find that ACU can score enough to keep pace and push this total over anyway. But without knowing the injury status, I think the overflow is the safest bet.

Abilene Christian vs Baylor Prediction: Over 142.5 (-110) available at time of publication. Can be played on that track.
