Scottie Barnes exits vs. Knicks with ankle sprain

This time it was Scottie Barnes who left midway through the third quarter against the New York Knicks after rolling his ankle.

Barnes went up to contest a shot attempt by Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns and landed awkwardly when the two collided. While Towns also appeared to be in pain, the big man went to the bench on his own. Meanwhile, Barnes had to be helped off the court and into the Raptors’ locker room with a visible limp after a few minutes on the court.

He was later diagnosed with a right ankle sprain and ruled out for the rest of the competition.

The 23-year-old franchise cornerstone already missed 11 games earlier this season with an orbital fracture. Barnes is averaging 21.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 7.8 assists in the 13 games he has played.

Before leaving the Knicks, the one-time All-Star tallied 15 points, five rebounds and three assists through 23 minutes.

It’s the latest in a string of injuries for Toronto — still without Immanuel Quickley (elbow), who has played in just three games this year, and Bruce Brown Jr. (knee), who has yet to make his season debut.
