Dallas Cowboys vs. Cincinnati Bengals Recap: Highlights, Results, News, Info

It’s been a minute since the Dallas Cowboys last played on Thanksgiving Day.

Today is December 9, and the team is coming off the longest possible layoff from a week-to-week standpoint as they host Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night football. Incredibly, the Bengals enter this game with the inferior record, but are favored despite being on the road.

The Cowboys are coming off their first home win in quite some time and are looking to build a season-high three-game winning streak. If they want to do that, they will need to get a strong performance from Cooper Rush, something he scripted against this very team in the early parts of the 2022 season.

This post will serve as our running recap, breaking down all the action on a quarterly basis. At the end of the game, we will rearrange it so that it can be read in chronological order for a complete and unified game summary.

Let’s Go Cowboys!

Notable recent news

Prior to the Thursday night game in the past week between Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packersit was reported that the former’s offensive coordinator in Ben Johnson has a list of demands (so to speak) regarding teams that might want him as their head coach.

Johnson would like to have alignment between himself (as the presumed head coach) and the team’s general manager in matters relating to the football team.

You can see how this would effectively eliminate the Cowboys from consideration.

Damage Updates

Last week brought the news that Zack Martin would undergo season-ending surgery. It remains to be seen if we’ll ever see him suit up for the Dallas Cowboys again.

NFL news relevant to the Cowboys

The games leading up to this weren’t incredibly kind to the Cowboys’ playoff hopes, but they did get some help. A win would put them at 6-7 next door Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. Currently belongs to the third Wild Card spot Washington’s commanderswhich Dallas already beat and is still playing again, with an 8-5 record.

Up Next For The Cowboys

With the Cowboys playing Monday night, they will be on a short week, their third in four game weeks, and they will hit the road on Sunday for a visit to Carolina Panthers.

Should the Cowboys win against Cincinnati and Carolina, they will get back to .500 for the first time this season since Week 2.
