Dodgers in danger of losing beloved slugger to Yankees after Juan Soto signs

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in 2024, but they may not be able to keep all of their key players in 2025. They could lose a fan favorite to the New York Yankees.

Teoscar Hernández is one of the best players around, but he’s not a shoo-in to be back with the Dodgers. According to MassLive.com’s Chris CotilloThe New York Yankees are also interested in him.

Hernández will be a target for most teams that lose the Soto sweepstakes. Cotillo noted that his market should heat up after the Soto signing. Hernández has made it known that he wants to stay with the Dodgers, but they will have to compete with several teams to bring him back.

Hernández told journalists after the World Series that the Dodgers are his top pick, but it’s not in his hands.

“The Dodgers will be my priority in free agency. I will do everything possible to come back. It’s not in my hands, but if it was, I would choose them,” Hernández said.

Hernández had a career year for the Dodgers and earned his second career All-Star selection. He hit 33 home runs and had 99 RBIs in 154 games for the World Series champions. He was a key piece in their championship.

The Yankees would likely see him as a “must sign” if Soto leaves. He can play every day while bringing serious power. However, his desire to stay in Los Angeles may be enough for the Dodgers to convince him to sign with them for slightly less than other offers.
