Storm Darragh Northern Ireland LIVE tracker: Met Office weather warnings in force as 48k without power, Belfast City Airport flights cancelled, M1 closed, roads closed and Belfast Christmas Market closes

An extra 2k now without power

NIE has said that the total number of their customers without power is now around 48k.
Some who were without power have now seen their power return, but the NIE has warned that some may be without power into Sunday.
They said high wind speeds and access issues are also hampering restoration efforts, as repair work can only proceed when it is safe for emergency crews to do so.

A spokesperson for NIE Networks added:

“Hundreds of additional staff have been brought in to help bolster our normal capacity. Our Incident Management Center in Craigavon has been opened, as have our local Incident Centers, which are located in Northern Ireland and are used by our teams to coordinate our localized response.

“We have mobilized additional call agents to handle any queries customers may have regarding the repair process in their area.

“We would like to remind customers that if they should experience a power outage, they can report the fault online at www.nienetworks.co.uk or call the NIE Networks Customer Helpline on 03457 643 643. Customers can also follow us on social media for regular updates.”
