Warriors Injury News: Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins to play against Suns

The Golden State Warriors will have both Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins in the starting lineup against Phoenix Suns Sunday night, according to a report by The Athletic’s Anthony Slater. Curry missed the Warriors’ last game with a knee injury, and Wiggins was added to the injury report earlier this week with an ankle injury. Per Slater, both Wiggins and Curry were monitored during pregame practices and were cleared to play.

In 16 games this season, Wiggins is averaging 17.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and just 0.9 turnovers in 28.4 minutes per game. His shooting efficiency has also been the best of his career. He has made 50.0% of his two-point attempts, 41.0% of his three-point attempts and 76.1% of his free throws. In 14 games, Curry is averaging 22.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.6 steals in just under 30 minutes per game.

The Western Conference standings are still incredibly tight. The Warriors sit at 12-6 on the season, the Warriors currently have the third best seed in the Western Conference and are just one game behind. Houston Rockets for second place and another game behind the Thunder for the top spot. However, they are also only 3.5 games ahead of the 11th-seeded Sacramento Kings. Needless to say, a healthy Steph Curry and Wiggins would go a long way toward helping the Warriors make their lives easier late in the season as they push for a playoff berth.
