Arsenal vs Manchester United Player Ratings – Leaders star as Gunners claim huge win

LONDON — Handing out the Arsenal v Manchester United player ratings was a lot of fun on a wild Wednesday night in north London.

Arsenal got the win they wanted thanks to second-half goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba, with the Gunners reducing Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to just seven points.

Below are the Arsenal vs Manchester United player ratings out of 10 after a close, tense game at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal Player Ratings

David Raya: 8 – Made a superb save to deny De Ligt at a crucial time in the game and then also denied Antony late on when standing tall. Didn’t have much to do but play big.

Jurrien Timber: 8 – Got his first Arsenal goal with a header at the near post. Played right back and left back. So important for Arsenal. Unsung completely.

William Saliba: 7 – Never looked confused by Højlund and scored the second after causing havoc in the box.

Jakub Kiwior: 6 – Stepping in for Gabriel went just fine. Højlund turned him over a few times but a solid outing.

Oleksandr Zinchenko: 6 – Appeared in some good areas going forward. Lowered Diallo in the second half and was immediately taken off.

Martin Odegaard: 8 – Did what he does best. Buzzed around, turned up the pace in the second half and Arsenal are just a different team with him.

Thomas Partey: 7 – Missed a big chance early on but was crucial in Arsenal’s second goal. Played center mid and right back.

Declan Rice: 7 – Like Odegaard, Arsenal drove on and upped the tempo in the second half. Won midfield and nice corner kick to set up the first goal.

Bukayo Saka: 8 – His corner kick was also excellent and Saka just never stops running. Great display even though he didn’t get a goal.

Kai Havertz: 6 – A bit quiet and didn’t capitalize on a couple of half chances that came his way. Worked hard, as always.

Gabriel Martinelli: 5 – Missed a big chance in the first half and just couldn’t get going.

Replacements
Mikel Merino (on for Zinchenko 71′): 6 – Missed a great chance with a header. Helped to keep the pace high.
Leandro Trossard (on for Martinelli 71′): 7 – Real quality on the ball, created chances and Arsenal looked really dangerous after he came on.
Jorginho (on for Odegaard 90′): N/A

Manchester United Player Ratings

Other Onana: 6 – Couldn’t do much on the goals and didn’t have to make any big saves.

Matthijs de Ligt: 6 – So close to equalizing with a towering header, but couldn’t stop Arsenal’s set-piece dominance.

Harry Maguire: 6 – See above. Did okay during the game and pretty much kept Havertz quiet. Suspended in the second half. Must be a leader and stop United looking so weak at set pieces.

Noussair Mazraoui: 6 – Again, see above. Some great passes from the back and he was composed on the ball in the first half.

Diogo Dalot: 6 – Drilled a shot inches wide in the first half. Played right wing-back and left wing-back well.

Manuel Ugarte: 5 – Overpowered in midfield and looked lost and off the pace.

Bruno Fernandes: 6 – Some smart free kicks and worked hard.

Tyrell Malacia: 5 – Tough time for him against Saka after so long out. Interrupted at half time.

Mason Mount: 5 – Didn’t have much of an impact. Looks so far removed from the player he was a few years ago.

Alejandro Garnacho: 5 – Fairly anonymous. Ran the ball out of play and just couldn’t get the most out of counter attacks.

Rasmus Højlund: 7 – Run himself into the ground, held up the ball well and was a nuisance for Arsenal’s defence.

Replacements
Amad Diallo (46′ on for Malacia): 7 – Lively and forced some mistakes.
Leny Yoro (59′ on for Maguire): 5 – Youngster is a real talent but bullied at set pieces.
Joshua Zirkzee (59′ on for Garnacho): 5 – Couldn’t get involved in the game as Arsenal took over.
Marcus Rashford (59′ on for Mount): 6 – Did his best to drive forward and whip in crosses.
Antony (79′ on to Højlund): 5 – Missed a great chance from a quick free kick.
