Wisconsin football defensive lineman Curt Neal plans to transfer

MADISON – The Wisconsin football team suffered its biggest loss to date to the Portal on Tuesday morning.

Redshirt junior Curt Neal announced his intention to leave Badgers. The 6-foot, 290-pound defensive tackle from North Carolina was one of the anchors of a defensive line that had its ups and downs this season.

Neal started in 11 of 12 games. He ranked first among defensive linemen with 30 tackles, 14 solo. He was second on the unit to Elijah Hills with 3.5 tackles for a loss.

“This has not been an easy decision as my time at Wisconsin has been nothing short of incredible,” Neal signed X. “Thank you Badger Nation!”

Neal is among six defensive players to announce he will enter the portal, joining outside linebacker Leon Lowery and defensive backs Jonas Duclona, ​​Amare Snowden and Justin Taylor.

Taylor announced his decision Tuesday morning. The 6-foot, 200-pound safety from Broadview, Illinois, entered two games this season after redshirting last year.

He has three years of eligibility left.

Later in the day, another DB from the 2023 recruiting class, Jace Arnold, announced his plan to transfer. He played four games on special teams as a freshman but retained his redshirt status. This year he appeared in 10 games and made one tackle. He has three years of eligibility left.

Wisconsin also took a hit on the recruiting trail as Cameron Miller, a 5-11. 165-pound receiver from New Jersey, announced he was decommitting. He is considered a consensus three-star recruit.
