UNC football vs NC State live updates: Score, highlights

game

The North Carolina Tar Heels football team will play its final game under head coach Mack Brown against the NC State Wolfpack on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ACC network) at Kenan Stadium in Week 14 of the college football season.

The Tar heels will try to avoid four straight losses to NC State and send Brown out on the right note. The Wolf packwho will try to end Brown’s career with a loss, need a win to become bowl eligible for the fifth straight season.

The Wolf pack (5-6, 2-5) have won seven of the last 10 meetings against Tar heels (6-5, 3-4 ACC), including three of the last four matchups in Chapel Hill. Prior to last season’s 39-20 win for NC State in Raleigh, the previous two meetings were one-score games.

With it being Brown’s final game, here are 10 candidates to replace the longtime head coach in Chapel Hill, some options more realistic than others.

As for the game itself, UNC running back Omarion Hampton needs 25 rushing yards to become the fourth ACC player in the last 20 years to reach 1,500 rushing yards in back-to-back seasons. NC State quarterback CJ Bailey, who guaranteed a win against the Tar Heels after the Wolfpack’s loss at Georgia Tech, has accounted for 2,142 yards and 17 TDs in his first season with the Pack.
