Michigan running back Donovan Edwards left “The Game” against Ohio State in the second quarter after a third downturn.

Edwards appeared to be rolled up between a pair of Ohio State defenders. He managed to get up and walk to the sideline, albeit slowly.

The drive ended with a 54-yard field goal from Dominic Zvada and a 10-3 Michigan lead late in the second quarter.

At that point in the game, Edwards had four carries for 11 yards and two catches for two yards. Entering the game, Edwards had 124 carries for 574 yards, four touchdowns and 4.7 yards per carry. carry. He also had 16 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.

FOX’s Jenny Taft later reported that Edwards was “doubtful” to return to the game after the break.

Edwards regularly made big plays against Ohio State, such as at Ohio Stadium in 2022, where he delivered two 75- and 85-yard touchdown runs to secure a 45–23 victory, Michigan’s first at the venue since 2000.

Edwards replaced the star running back Blake Coruma Heisman Trophy contender who had injured his knee the week before against Illinois tried to give it a shot in Columbus but wasn’t effective or healthy enough to stay in the game. Edwards racked up 216 rushing yards while wearing a cast and playing through the pain himself.

“It’s not trying to replicate anything for me,” Edwards said Tuesday in Schembechler Hall. “It’s just doing what we have to do to win the football game. I’m not looking for … because I found myself trying to be something that I was in the past and that past is over. So I must look forward to what will happen.

“I don’t want to replicate anything in the upcoming game. I just want to do me, just have a great game as a football team and come out with a win. That’s all our mindset is.”
