USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah is set to get another opportunity out on the right wing for Milan when they play Empoli in Serie A this weekend, but Paulo Fonseca looks set to drop Tammy Abraham from his line-up, despite that he got a goal and assist. against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Milan host Empoli at the San Siro on Saturday evening in the 14th round of the 2024-25 Serie A fixtures.

Pre-match reports suggest that Musah will start on the right wing for Milan. Calciomercato suggesting that his position on the wing will only really be for phases out of possession and that he will be used as an ‘extra’ midfielder when the Rossoneri are on the ball.

How Milan could line up against Empoli

He is likely to be joined by Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao, behind Alvaro Morata at centre-forward. Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana are again the expected midfielders in Fonseca’s double focal point.

That means Abraham will have to settle for a place on the bench again, despite putting in an encouraging performance against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League.

Fonseca admitted during his pre-match press conference that he will consider returning to a two-striker system, as he did for the 2-1 win against Inter earlier this season, but hinted that this will not be the case against Empoli.

“It is an idea that is still in my head. It will be an opportunity when I think it can be an advantage for us,” said the coach.
