CLEMSON – The biggest day for football in the state of South Carolina has arrived.

Football no. 14 in South Carolina travels upstate to face no. 12 Clemson, and this year is arguably the biggest Palmetto Bowl in recent history. The Gamecocks (8-3) have a chance to finish with their best record yet under coach Shane Beamer, and the Tigers (9-2) likely won’t make the College Football Playoffs without a win on Saturday.

Clemson is the seventh ranked opponent South Carolina faces this season and the fourth in the last five weeks.

The Gamecocks are riding a five-game winning streak and wrapped up SEC play on Nov. 16 with a 34-30 victory over Missouri. The Tigers finished 7-1 in ACC play, losing to Louisville on Nov. 2. South Carolina is the second SEC team that Clemson has faced this season, the first being Georgia in the Aug. 31 season opener.
