Predators trade goaltender Scott Wedgewood to Colorado for Justus Annunen

The Nashville Predators announced Saturday that they have traded backup goaltender Scott Wedgewood to the Colorado Avalanche for backup goaltender Justus Annunen and a sixth-round draft pick.

The Predators signed the 32-year-old Wedgewood to a two-year, $3 million deal on July 1 to serve as the backup to Juuse Saros.

Now they trade him away after just five starts for Predator. Wedgewood finishes with a 1-2-1 record and an .878 save percentage for the Predators.

Annunen was a third-round pick by the Avalanche in 2018. He has made 24 NHL starts and has a 16-9-2 record with a career .872 save percentage.

Annunen, 24, is signed to a two-year, $1.6 million contract that expires in 2026, after which he will be a restricted free agent.

By trading Wedgewood for Annunen, the Predators save a little less than $1 million on their salary cap for this year and next.

Sixth round pick acquired by Nashville in trade for 2025 NHL Draft.
