Aruba’s new adults-only resort features swim-up suites, a rooftop bar and one of the world’s largest beaches

Eagle Beach. If you know Aruba, you know. The wide, white, glistening stretch of sand in the northwest corner of the island is one of our favorite beaches in the Caribbean—and arguably among the best beaches, well, anywhere in the world. It’s also home to an exciting new resort about to open its doors in Aruba: Joia Beach, Iberostar’s new Dutch Caribbean hotel.

While it’s not the all-inclusive you’d expect from a brand like Iberostar, it’s designed on an island that prides itself on an immersive, experiential, get-out-of-the-resort vacation. But it’s an adults-only resort, one of only a handful on the island, and it’s pretty slim, too.

The property, which will welcome its first guests on December 18, will have 240 rooms, some of which will be of the much sought-after swim-up variety.

It also has three different pools, a trio of dining options (one of which is a buffet) and five lounges, including a very cool rooftop concept called Zima. There is also a spa that includes hydrotherapy, with a wide range of treatment options.

But the biggest story is its location, as one of just a few resorts located on Eagle’s devoured sands (along with other CJ favorites like the ultra-sustainable Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort (rooms from $557) and Manchebo, rooms from $475), the kind of beach that deserves its own pilgrimage – it’s so good, you’ll want to spend all day on it almost every day of your holiday.

So what about the cost?

This is what a standard suite interior looks like.

It’s a new resort so that means opening prices. For an entry-level double queen suite, you’ll pay around $461 per night. It gives you a room with its own hot tub on your balcony (the next best thing to having a private plunge pool) along with little touches like a pillow menu and slippers.

As we like to say, getting a swim room is almost always worth it. And by the looks of the Iberostar variety, that will also be true at Joia Beach.

Yes, we mentioned swimming rooms and it will drive you around $808 night for a large room that also includes a couple of sunbeds in the pool and a separate outdoor terrace.

Joia is one of two highly anticipated properties making their Aruba debut in the next few months, including Marriott’s new St. Regis.
