Playing notes

  • The Boston Bruins will look to continue to build their offensive game against Pittsburgh Penguins tonight.
  • After a shutout and a pair of low-scoring games, though wins, the Bruins’ six goals in their 6-3 victory over New York Islanders Wednesday is tied for the most they have scored in a game this season. It is also as much as they had scored in the previous four games before that. The B’s last scored six goals in the home opener against Montreal.
  • Wednesday’s win was a good night for the Bruins’ top six forwards, who had two- and three-point nights. They will look to keep it rolling against a Pittsburgh team that has the highest goals against/games played average at 3.96.
  • And on the flip side – the Bruins have the second-to-last lowest average in the league for goals for/games played at 2.38 goals.
  • While David Pastrnak has five assists in his last five games, he now has six games without finding the back of the net.
  • Pittsburgh last played on Wednesday, snapping a three-game losing streak when they hit Vancouver Canucks5-4 – the day after the Canucks blanked the B’s.
  • It’s another return game for an ex-Bruin as Matt Grzelcyk is back at TD Garden. So far this season, Grzelcyk has eight points with eight assists in 24 games. Expect a video tonight, welcome him back to Boston.
  • See you tonight!
