Desperate Raiders sign former Draft Bust just 24 hours before Chiefs Game

The Chiefs will host the Raiders on Black Friday as the standout game in the NFL. There’s no doubt who the better team is, and Las Vegas proved it with a desperate move just 24 hours before the game.

They signed former Panthers second-round receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. from the practice squad to the active roster. He will suit up on Friday after being cut by the Panthers ahead of the regular season.

After placing QB Gardner Minshew on the injured reserve list, the Raiders are now giving Marshall a look with Aidan O’Connell.

There is nothing inherently wrong with letting Marshall get a shot. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach is a master at finding former high draft picks who flamed out with their first team.

That said, moving this late in the season only makes sense if you’re a bad team. The Raiders are currently projected to have the second pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, so they definitely qualify.

Kansas City, meanwhile, is atop the AFC on its way to regaining home field advantage. One organization is putting the finishing touches on an elite list, while the other is already looking forward to next year.

Marshall’s best year came in 2022 with 28 catches for 490 yards and a TD. He theoretically projects as a downfield threat and has impressive physical attributes, but I’m not particularly interested if even Carolina doesn’t want you on the field.

We’ll see if the signing pays off, though it’s clear no matter why the Chiefs are heavy favorites.
