Quiet and cool through the holiday weekend

Despite light snow nearby to the north, local travel will continue to be in good shape. Expect dry roads and clear skies as we head into Friday.

The early risers will have to bundle up due to temperatures starting below freezing again. The afternoon will also be cool again, but some spots will briefly reach the 50s.

Our next system will begin swinging into the area this evening. Initially, there won’t be much cloud cover or moisture associated with it.

Clear skies and light winds overnight will allow temperatures to drop back below freezing. Lows will be in the teens to low 30s.

As we go through the night, the disturbance will continue to track through the area. There is a chance it could trigger a mix of wintry and wet weather well into Saturday morning. Most of this potential moisture won’t affect us, but we’ll still need to keep an eye on counties that are on the northern and eastern edges of the range.

This disturbance will be gone by midday Saturday. The rest of the weekend will be partly sunny and cool.

Even beyond the next few days, we will be locked into a dry pattern for a while. We may have to wait until the week after next for moisture to return to the area.

Milder air will begin to bounce back next week. Overnight temperatures will still be near and below freezing, but afternoon highs will be in the 50s.
