Memphis football has a chance to make a statement on a national stage.

But while the Tigers (9-2, 5-2 AAC) can reach 10 wins against Tulane (9-2, 7-0) Thursday night, they won’t be going to the AAC title game. The Green Wave can clinch home court advantage for the AAC title game if they beat Memphis on Thursday.

Memphis saw its conference title hopes go out the window after losses to Navy and UTSA, but the Tigers will close out the regular season with Thursday’s game against Tulane. Memphis hasn’t beaten Tulane in New Orleans since 2016.

The Tigers also enter the game two-touchdown underdogs — the first conference game with such a wide spread in more than a decade.
