With more than 180 breeds ready to show off, the National Dog Show begins Thursday, Nov. 28, following the Macy’s Day parade.

The beloved pet event was in its 23rd year at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center on November 16, 2024. Nearly 2,000 canines entered the competition, all vying for the coveted title of ‘Best in Show’.

What is the National Dog Show?

The National Dog Show is hosted by the American Kennel Club, which sanctions the best dogs from around the country. Dogs from 205 breeds and varieties will compete in breed, group and Best in Show categories.

The dog show itself is being held by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia, which has hosted an annual competition since 1879.

Presented by Purina, the annual national dog show is a two-hour family entertainment special that is the most-watched dog show in America. Viewers can tune into NBC at noon on Thanksgiving Day, right after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
