Thanksgiving travelers at DIA note the full lots and parking problems

DENVER (KDVR) – Weather aside, many travelers at Denver International Airport heading out for the holidays noticed problems with parking and many full spaces Wednesday.

The Pikes Peak Lot and several off-site garage lots were full before noon, creating some timing issues for some travelers. FOX31 found that parking at DIA’s West Garage took over 20 minutes.

But not all travelers were stuck circling lots looking for an empty space.

“I quit Ubering because I had already seen a lot about the parking,” Ashley Parriott said.

Another option was public transportation, which Ashley Esquive and her family used.

“We took the bus from Boulder. We knew it was going to be a crazy day, but actually the lines are pretty good so far.” she said.

“We choose not to race specifically because of that,” said her partner, Eric Cowan.

Still, there were people who planned ahead and drove in.

“Out here to the west, in the west parking lot. It was packed, barely got a spot, but otherwise it’s been pretty simple. Not too bad.” Deigo Vasquez said.
