Across the United States, elected leaders, analysts, pundits and millions of average Americans are reflecting on and trying to make sense of Donald Trump’s victory in the recent presidential election. This is especially the case in North Carolina, where despite Trump’s victory in the state’s presidential race, Democrats fared well in state and legislative elections.

One North Carolina expert who has an interesting and in some ways outside the box take on this situation (and North Carolina’s status as a so-called purple state) is Davidson College political science professor Susan Roberts. And last week, NC Newsline caught up with Professor Roberts in her Davidson office.
