There was a time – before COVID – when the trend was for stores to stay open on Thanksgiving Day. Then, pandemic-related shutdowns led to schedule changes, and stores kept their doors closed for the holiday, and most have kept that schedule ever since.

Most major retailers, including Walmart and Target, are closed on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 28). Kohl’s and Best Buy are also closed. Some grocery stores will also be closed.

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 28):

Federal Offices- Closed

State and local offices – Closed

Banks – Closed

Financial markets – NYSE, NASDAQ – Closed

Post office – Closed, mail will not work

UPS, FedEx – Most services will not be available. UPS Express Critical will be available, as will FedEx Custom Critical.

Bass Pro Shops – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m

Large parties – 7.00 – 21.00

Cabela’s – 9 a.m. – 6 p.m

CVS – 9.00-14.00, opening hours may vary

Dollar General – 8.00-10.00

Hooks– Open, opening hours vary

Sprouts – 7 a.m. to 2 p.m

Starbucks – The hours vary from place to place
