Debbie Antonelli wonderfully called her son’s Louisville game on ESPN

Legendary basketball analyst Debbie Antonelli was on the call when her son, Patrick, checked into a matchup between Indiana and Louisville, and the moment it happened was amazing.

Despite looking “extremely anxious and nervous” (as her broadcast partner described it), Debbie Antonelli delivered an excellent call just as her son checked in. “Well, it’s definitely a dream come true for Patrick to be in Louisville and get his master’s degree,” she said. “All I care about him is being around good guys and being around a good coaching staff. And that’s what he has.”

Pretty sweet, right? Well, Antonelli wasn’t so shrouded at the moment. When Patrick later stepped to the line to hit some free throws after a technical foul, her partner mentioned that he was already a better free throw shooter than his mother. “No way,” Antonelli answered quickly. It is spoken like a true parent. You must keep the children humble.
