UofL basketball Battle 4 Atlantis game

Coverage from the game:

U of L declares: Card blasts no. 15 IU for first major win of the Kelsey era

Coverage during the game:

Pat Kelsey has another chance today, against no. 15, Indiana, to earn his first signature win as Louisville basketball coach.

The Cardinals (3-1) are in the Bahamas for the second time this year to compete in the Bad Bow Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis — an eight-team tournament that guarantees three games in as many days at Atlantis Paradise Island resort. They and the Hoosiers (4-0) tip off the festivities at noon.

If U of L snaps a two-game losing streak to IU with its first win in the series since 2017, it will face either No. 4 Gonzaga or West Virginia in Round 2 on Thanksgiving Day. On the other side of the bracket: No. 23 Arizona, Davidson, Oklahoma and Providence.

Indiana holds a 12-9 advantage over Louisville dating back to 1921.

The Cards are coming off a win last Friday over Winthrop that moved them two games over .500 for the first time since the end of the Chris Mack era. Kelsey enters today’s game 1-14 against ranked opponents across 12 seasons and some changes as a Division I head coach — the lone win coming in 2019 against No. 18 Saint Mary’s, during his time at Winthrop.

The Hoosiers’ last game before Battle 4 Atlantis was their closest yet, 69-58 over UNC Greensboro last Thursday. The formidable Tennessee team that beat Louisville by 22 points earlier this month at the KFC Yum! Center and is now in sixth place in the country? Woodson’s pack took them down on the road, 66-62, in a preseason exhibition.
