Sheriff: ‘Suspicious’ fire at Creation Kingdom Zoo under investigation | WJHL

SCOTT COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A fire overnight Wednesday at the Creation Kingdom Zoo in Gate City is under investigation, police report.

According to Scott County Sheriff Jeff Edds, Virginia State Police (VSP) arson investigators have been called in to investigate the “suspicious” fire.

VSP confirmed that the fire is under investigation.

Creation Kingdom Zoo will reportedly be closed for the foreseeable future due to the fire.

“As we work through this, we ask that you keep our family, staff and animal family in your prayers,” Creation Kingdom Zoo said in a posts on social media.

The zoo described the fire overnight as “devastating”.
