Here are the retailers offering the best deals on this holiday shopping season.

JCPenney, Macy’s offer the best Black Friday discounts

The online personal financial resource WalletHub examined more than 4,300 deals from 13 of the nation’s largest retailers’ 2024 Black Friday ad scans and compiled the average discount offered by each retailer.

JCPenny Ranked First in WalletHub’s “Best places to shop on Black Friday” location, which has an average total Black Friday discount of 76.20%.

Shoppers at Macy’s can look forward to Black Friday discounts of 57.13%.

Kohl’s ranked fourth on WalletHub’s list, offering Black Friday discounts of 43.55%.

Walmart rounds out the top five, offering Black Friday discounts of 37.75%.

“JCPenney is the best place to shop on Black Friday because it offers an average discount of 76.2%. This is the sixth time JCPenney has earned the top spot in this report since 2014,” WalletHub’s findings read. “If you’re ready to propose to that special someone, you can get an $18,749.98 diamond engagement ring for just $3,799.99.

“In addition to significant cuts in jewelery and clothingJCPenney has great deals on appliances, offering savings of 58.5% on average.”

Some major retailers are offering fewer Black Friday deals in store

While all of the discounts on WalletHub’s Best Places to Shop on Black Friday will help you save money, there are several retailers that are offering fewer in-store discounts on Black Friday compared to their competitors.

Costco ranked last on WalletHub’s list, offering Black Friday discounts of 18.27% to in-store shoppers.

Target ranked ninth on WalletHub’s list, offering 28.65% off in-store Black Friday purchases.

“Knowing which retailers are actually offering significant deals compared to their regular prices can save you a lot of time and prevent buyer’s remorse,” WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said in an email. “This year, the stores offering the best deals are JCPenney, Belk and Macy’s.”
