Man arrested after run-in with New Castle officer

A man has been arrested after a hit-and-run incident with a police car in New Castle County, Delaware.

New Castle County Police report that 53-year-old James Thorpe rear-ended the officer’s Chevrolet Tahoe on Bayview Road at Route 13.

53-year-old James Thorpe was arrested after a hit-and-run incident with an officer in New Castle County.

Thorpe then fled the scene driving northbound Route 13. The officer was able to apprehend and arrest the suspect in a Wawa parking lot at Boyd’s Corner.

Thorpe was then transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with a DUI, fleeing the scene and ignoring a police officer’s signal to stop. This is Thorpe’s 11th DUI offense.
