The Edward Jones office on Main Street is once again helping pets at the Humane Society of Huron Valley this year as part of their Day of Caring, and they’re hoping the Manchester community can help out again too!

This is the second annual Day of Caring that Tammy James, Senior Branch Administrator, has participated in, and it won’t be her last! Tammy is happy to work for a company that gives its employees a paid “Day of Caring” to volunteer for a cause close to their hearts.

Last year, she says, “I had a car full of donations to deliver when I spent my Day of Caring service day at the Humane Society of Huron Valley. It was a great day and the shelter was so grateful for all the towels, blankets , food and other things I could take with me!”

A drop box is available in the lobby to begin accepting donations of any of the items listed below.

  • Gently used or new bath towels (The bigger the better! Washcloths are okay, but please, no towels.)
  • Small blankets and pet beds that can be washed in a regular washing machine.
  • Flat sheets.
  • Kuranda Beds for Dogs & Cats – We especially need 40×25 metal Kuranda beds for dogs!
  • Cat toys – toy mice (WITHOUT catnip) and anything with a feather!
  • Food for pets in original bag/can up to 3 months after the expiry date.
  • Forestable cat litter.
  • Canned dog food. (They love Pedigree yellow mince cans!)
  • Waterless pet shampoo.
  • Alcohol (must be 70% CLEAR alcohol — no fragrance).
  • Liquid Vicks solution (for steam evaporators).
  • Yards of fleece for animal projects.
  • Ziploc bags – both gallon and quart sizes.
  • Gift cards from places such as Amazon.compet supply stores and office supplies

Please consider dropping off a donation of any of these items from Monday, December 2nd through the first two weeks of December, when Tammy expects to drop off another big load of treats and useful items at the shelter. The boxes will be put to good use by pets in need and their caregivers!
