Dozens of Hawaii Pediatric Patients, Families Among First in World to See ‘Moana 2’

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Dozens of pediatric patients and their families in Hawaii were among the first in the world to see “Moana 2” before it hits theaters Wednesday.

Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children patients were treated to a special screening of “Moana 2” this week, hosted by Disney and the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

“Disney has been a supporter of children’s hospitals for decades, dating back to the days of Walt Disney, and I’ve really tried to preserve that legacy,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger. “With ‘Moana 2’ opening this coming week, we’ve had the opportunity to bring a great film to the people of this hospital – patients and staff alike.”

As part of the event, the patients got to play games and receive gifts.

The Starlight Children’s Foundation also teamed up with Disney to create new “Moana” themed hospital gowns for the hospital.

Rene Jong, mother of one of the patients, said the children were excited about this opportunity.

“Seeing ‘Moana 2’ first is such an honor and it’s so exciting,” Jong said.

“She (Moana) is definitely a role model for Pacific Islanders and even more so it (the movie) shows her growing up and how much they can accomplish and just be who they are and not have to worry about what other people think. “
