Stephen Nedoroscik brings pommel horse to ‘DWTS’ finale

The Olympics are back in the ballroom.

During season 33, Stephen Nedoroscik participates in freestyle dancing Dancing with the stars final, the bronze medal-winning Team USA gymnast brought flair to his routine. It opened with Nedoroscik returning to the pommel horse, his signature event as a gymnast (and for which he won his individual medal).

Both he and professional partner Rylee Arnold performed dance moves on and around the pommel horse. Then the two stood on top of the horse and jumped off it in their full dance routine. Some of Nedoroscik’s teammates also joined him on the ballroom floor as he alternated between ballroom moves with Arnold and gymnastic tricks with his team.

Arnold wore a red, white and blue dress to emphasize Stephen’s place on Team USA as he performed everything from backflips to an impressive sequence that mirrored a floor routine.

The routine drew raves from the judges, who praised the use of Nedoroscik’s skills as a gymnast as a way to make the number truly unique. Judge Derek Hough even admitted that while watching Nedoroscik compete at the Olympics last summer, he thought the gymnast would be a good fit DWTS — and this routine was the full realization of this journey.

Arnold and Nedoroscik earned their first perfect score of the season for the routine, bringing their total score for their two final dances to 59 points.

Nedoroscik previously brought his pommel horse to the ballroom during Week 4’s “Dedication Night,” where he dedicated his Argentine tango to his teammates. “Recently, the NCAA cut men’s gymnastics, and that could go away,” he said. “Men’s gymnastics made me the man I am today. I want to be able to pour my heart into this achievement for my sport.”

We’d say he’s done it 20 times now.
