Giants Brian Daboll won’t give up play-calling as season spirals

After a 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at MetLife Stadium — a moment that represented a new low for the New York Giants — nothing will change.

Head coach Brian Daboll informed reporters Monday morning that it will remain business as usual in East Rutherford, and that includes the play calling.

“We’re going to stay status quo here in terms of how we prepare, especially this short week. But definitely, I’ve got to do a better job,” Daboll said.

The Giants are dead last in the NFL, averaging 14.8 points per game. That’s down from 15.6 points per game last season when assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka called the plays.

But that won’t be the only thing that stays the same. Daboll added that quarterback Tommy DeVito, assuming he is healthy enough, will remain the team’s starter.

“Yes, of course I spoke to the training staff, I’m hopeful. But I don’t know, I haven’t spoken to the training staff,” he said.

“I haven’t spoken to the training staff yet. So I’ll wait until they give me the update and then we’ll see where we are. But I expect he will be ready to go.

Doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results… There’s a word for that.
