LEAWOOD, Kan.–( BUSINESS WIRE )– AMC Theatres® (NYSE:AMC), the largest theatrical exhibitor in the United States and the world, was the popular place to be this past weekend. The company roared to its highest domestic revenue (admissions revenue plus food and beverage, including merchandise) over the pre-Thanksgiving weekend in AMC’s 104-year history. It was also the highest-grossing pre-Thanksgiving weekend domestic opening since 2019, and the third-highest pre-Thanksgiving weekend domestic opening in AMC history. AMC’s success was driven by the strong opening weekends of both WICKED and GLADIATOR II.

Fans flocked to theaters in the United States and internationally as AMC Theaters and ODEON Cinemas combined to welcome 4.6 million moviegoers from Thursday through Sunday.

Domestically, AMC’s merchandise programs for WICKED received a huge thumbs up from fans. WICKED collectibles effectively sold out midway through the weekend. This includes AMC’s two different green and pink popcorn containers based on WICKED’s two main characters Elphaba and Glinda, and the 32-ounce Grippr Cup with two translucent toppers based on Elphaba and Glinda.

AMC is also excited to announce that beginning in late December, select AMC locations will play WICKED Singalong showtimes, specifically designed for fans to sing their hearts out along with the on-screen lyrics.
