Tom Sandoval announces that Schwartz and Sandy’s is CLOSING one year after Scandoval

Just two years after the official opening, Schwartz & Sandy’s is now closing.

Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz announced the end of their Franklin Village restaurant in separate statements posted on their social media accounts on Monday.

The restaurant is closing at the end of this year after a turbulent start – both Sandoval and Schwartz have made no secret of how difficult it was for them to launch the restaurant, and last year the company faced backlash after Sandoval’s affair with Rachel Leviss.

“With a heavy heart, we have made the difficult decision to close Schwartz & Sandy’s at the end of December,” Sandoval’s statement began.

‘This has not been an easy choice for my partners and me, but other priorities and commitments have taken hold. While this business venture has been an incredible stepping stone in my life that I will always cherish, I look forward to exciting new endeavors.

‘To our incredible staff and everyone who supported us along the way, you deserve the true recognition. I cannot thank you enough for your endless commitment to making Schwartz & Sandy’s a place of everlasting memories.

‘We hold a number of events and have the opportunity to host others up until our closing night. The allure of being associated with reality TV has obscured what is also a great place and location for LA locals. I highly recommend you check us out, especially if you haven’t yet. Let’s get together one last time.’

In his own statement, Schwartz described the difficult decision to close the restaurant, noting that he felt “some peace” knowing he was giving the business his “absolute everything.”

“There is no easy way to say this, but after careful consideration Greg, Tom and I made the decision to close Schwartz & Sandy’s before the end of the year. This was not an easy conclusion. So this is our farewell tour.

‘Let Tom and I host your holiday parties, birthdays, even a funeral for your lizard (rip Daug) It’s a party so many of us who work here have poured our hearts into for the past few years.

‘Let’s end this era on a high note and come by, bring your friends, toast the upcoming holiday and together let’s manifest a kick a** new year. There is a certain peace in knowing that I gave my absolute all in S&S, fully engaged with every fiber of my being.

‘To all the patrons who came in and supported us, showed me love every single night I was there, you kept me going through some of the harder times. We got to celebrate so many meaningful moments; birthdays, honeymoons, promotional events, the list goes on.

‘Just know that we are so grateful that it has been a true honor to share your magic with us. To our incredible staff who are like family to us, our friends and the many fans who have shown your support, we are eternally grateful. Franklin Village is a magical place.’

His post included various photos of the restaurant, including several of the diner decked out for the holidays.

“Good sh**t guys, sad as hell to post this,” Schwartz remarked in the caption. ‘I will do a more sentimental post down the road. Just want to keep it upbeat and throw some parties to end the year. Let me and @tomsandoval1 host your events as we begin our farewell tour (praying hands and heart emoji). I will be brave and leave the comments ON. Breathe X reboot. I have a cold Coors light and a Publix sub as I type this in Florida. We end FUN.’

Schwartz and Sandy’s opened in 2022, marking the duo’s second restaurant together. The couple also run the eponymous Tom Tom restaurant in West Hollywood, which they opened with Lisa Vanderpump in 2018.

But last year the restaurants were caught in the crossfire after it was revealed Sandoval had cheated on girlfriend Ariana Madix with co-star Rachel Leviss, a controversy nicknamed ‘Scandoval’ by fans.

Immediately after the reveal, fans took their anger out on the two restaurants.

Schwartz & Sandy’s was vandalized by angry fans, and the Yelp pages for both restaurants were hit with negative reviews.

When asked how the companies have fared since the controversy, Sandoval told DailyMail.com at the Vanderpump Dog Gala earlier this month that they still have their ‘ups and downs’, adding ‘there’s never a dull moment.’

In an interview with PeopleSchwartz admitted they struggled after the pandemic and after the cheating scandal.

“Unfortunately, the current climate for this business is pretty tough,” he said. ‘It wasn’t easy to recover from all the negativity after the scandal, and the slimmer margins after COVID made it even harder to come back. There is not much room for error in the restaurant/bar business.’
