The Montreal Canadiens have recalled Joshua Roy from the Laval Rocket, the team announced Monday morning.

Roy has been in the American Hockey League all season and leads the Rocket with eight goals and eight assists in 17 games. There doesn’t need to be a corresponding roster move since the Canadiens only had 22 players on the active roster, but Rafaël Harvey-Pinard’s fitness efforts are now at their peak, meaning another move could come before their next game. The team requested an extension with the league. Harvey-Pinard is still on the road with the Rocket, which is a maximum of two extra games.

In addition to Joshua Roy, Canada confirms that they are demanding an extension (probability of deux matches) of Rafaël Harvey-Pinard’s “conditional period” with Rocket de Laval.

According to Rule 13.9 of the CBA, a player at a conditioning level like Rafael Harvey-Pinard can be sent down for 6 days and 3 games, and the club can then submit a written request to the league to extend the loan for an additional two more games. RHP is on the road with the Rocket today.

In 23 career NHL games, Roy has four goals and five assists, all last season.

The Rocket, for their part, recalled Jakov Novak from the ECHL’s Trois-Rivières Lions. Mike Matheson will not practice on Monday as he takes a therapy day. Patrik Laine was also back in a regular jersey for practice, which means he’s making good progress and could be back in a bit.

The Canadiens host Utah at the Bell Center on Tuesday night as they look to bounce back from a disappointing performance against the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday.
