Tracks a big cooldown, rain ahead of holiday travel

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with some rain or showers before dawn. Lows in the lower to mid 40s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy early and breezy with gusts up to 25 mph. Temperatures will drop to the low 40s in the late afternoon.

EXTENDED: I’m tracking a cold front out to our west that will eventually bring clouds and maybe a few light showers to areas along and south of I-70 late tonight into tomorrow morning. Temperatures will drop quickly after rising to near 70 this afternoon and drop into the low 40s by late tomorrow afternoon. Gusts stick around and bring the wind chill up into the upper 30s. Tuesday morning is much colder with this air mass in place as the low drops into the mid 20s. Another low pressure system will move into the region and slide south on Wednesday, bringing a shot of rain to parts of the area. Once that front moves through, we’ll be even cooler for Thanksgiving with some lingering precipitation early in the day. It will most likely fall as light rain with highs in the upper 30s locally for the holiday. Friday into the weekend will be quite cold, with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens to low 20s. We could see some more clouds or even some showers on Saturday as a weak rock system moves through.
