A Q&A with Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean

CD: “Great golfer, I like to play golf and played a lot in the off season. Play basketball when I can a little bit. Just hanging out with my family, but I don’t do much outside of football.”

LW: What is your favorite food and has it changed since you’ve been in Philadelphia?

QM: “My favorite meal is probably gator tail, mac and cheese, baked beans, Rotel Dip and dirty rice.”

CD: “Definitely a classic steak and potatoes. There are a lot of good steakhouses here that we don’t have in Iowa, so I enjoy those. I like the pizza out here a lot and the cheesesteaks.”

LW: You mentioned sports were big, when was your first dunk and when was it in a game?

CD: “It was the summer going into my freshman year of high school. I never dunked in the game until my sophomore year. It was pretty much every time I got a free range shot. I always tried to dunk as much as I could. That’s what I loved about playing basketball, being able to drive down and dunk on somebody.”

LW: “You’ve been known to do your own dance while the defense is doing a group party. What’s the reason behind that?

QM: “I just practiced my own dance at home. So when I get a chance to pull one off, I’m going to do it, no matter what they’re doing.”

LW: Both of you experience not only being beginners, but also beginners who started early. How have you leaned on each other and how is that relationship?

QM: “We’re just piggybacked by each other. Where Coop goes, I go and where I go, he goes. We just help each other, watch movies together and stuff like that. It’s been a big help to have him by my side.”

CD: “We’ve built a good relationship. We always meet with Coach together, study film together, so it’s good to have him. It’s good to be able to grow and go through this process with him. We kind of learn when we go here, we learn something new every week. It’s good to have another guy in the room to learn with.”
