Saquon Barkley’s 255 rushing yards Sunday night set a new Eagles record

1) Saquon Barkley’s Sunday Night effort ranks among the best single-game performances in NFL history

Look, I’m not saying MVP … but I’m not saying MVP.

Saquon Barkley rushed for an Eagles single-game record 255 yards on Sunday Night Football at SoFi Stadium, with 182 of those yards coming after halftime.

Barkley did the bulk of his damage on two monster touchdown runs in the second half — first with a 70-yarder to open it up on the first play after halftime, then later with a 72-yard run to put played completely out of reach late in the fourth quarter.

The 2024 free agency signing became the first player in NFL history with multiple rushing touchdowns of 70-plus yards in the second half of a single game.

Barkley is just the 13th player in NFL history to top 300 scrimmage yards in a single game, and only the second to do so in a primetime game (joining Flipper Anderson in 1989 against the Saints).

The former Giants first-round pick is on pace for 2,151 rushing yards at his current clip … that is, if he plays the rest of the season. With the way the Eagles have rolled and the Commanders have faltered, the Eagles may have no reason to play Barkley in Week 18 … oh wait, the Eagles face the Giants in Week 18. That would be a special way to accomplish that. a 2,000-yard season.
