Eagles veteran ‘going to cry’ after injury ends his season, and maybe his career

Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham is 36 years old and has played in 206 games in the league, but he didn’t look like he was playing in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. However, it appears Graham’s availability is in doubt beyond the game after he was ruled out not just for the game, but for the season.

In the fourth quarter, Graham was seen on the sideline watched by trainers looking at his elbow after a Rams running back chipped him as he tried to rush the pass. What makes it troubling is that before he was ejected, several players, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, reportedly walked up to Graham and said a few words before heading back to the locker room.

After the game, Graham gave an update on his forecast, one that is going to change the look of the team’s pass rush.

“I got his late in the game and I tore my triceps,” Graham said in the locker room via a video feed from NBC Sports Philadelphia. “Man…Like I told the boys, the mission is still the mission. We pour everything we can into this game. When I say I trust God, I trust God. I’m just enjoying myself and I’m enjoying this little bit of rehab and I’m going to enjoy leading this team for the rest of the year and as soon as I can be back out there, I’ll be back out there.”

Graham, who had been mulling whether this would be his last year before the season started saying he was going on a retirement trip, said it’s too early to make a decision if he’s done and that he’s done. only focused on helping the team for the rest of the season.

“If anything, if I had to go out, I’m happy with the way I played today,” Graham said. “I couldn’t ask for anything else. We just have to stay focused and I want to make sure as a manager that my presence is felt in that part…At the end of the day, if I were to go out this way, I love the way i gave in. it’s all out there on the field. all i know is they’re not done with me yet. how I can move forward to help my team.”

Graham made a significant impact off the edge, racking up a sack, two tackles and two tackles for loss, which not only affected Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, but affected the run game, not letting the running backs off him and forcing them to change direction back to the interior .

Head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t want to give an exact update because he still wants to wait for the final results and diagnosis, but stated how much he liked what Graham brought to the team and his feelings about him.

“I love him,” Sirianni said. “He’s one of my favorite guys I’ve ever been able to coach. We’ll see where it goes. I’m not ready to talk about it yet. I’m holding out hope and we’ll see.”

The Eagles are already thin at the position after defensive end Byrce Huff underwent surgery Thursday on his left wrist, which he injured before their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Huff was placed on injured reserve before Sunday’s game, meaning he was unavailable for Sunday and the three subsequent games.

With Huff out, linebacker Jalyx Hunt is expected to see an increased workload. Hunt, the team’s third-round pick in this year’s draft, started on special teams but has seen an increase in his time on defense, outscoring Huff in games against the Jaguars and Dallas Cowboys. However, Hunt did not play a defensive snap in Thursday’s win over the Washington Commanders. Hunt was expected to be a developmental player as he continues to learn the edge rusher position more after starting his college career as a safety. But his quickness around offensive linemen in his limited time on the field has been noticeable, with Hunt having one sack and three tackles so far this season.
