Lions’ RB leaves with shoulder injury

game

The Lions haven’t experienced much loss in 2024. While their record only reflects one losing effort, which will likely remain the case at the end of Week 12’s game against the Colts, that doesn’t include those who don’t show up in the standings.

David Montgomery, Detroit’s bruised star running back, left late in the third quarter of Sunday’s game with an apparent injury. He went back to the locker room without a jersey or shoulder pads on, an ominous sign of his future availability.

Here is the latest news about Montomery.

David Montgomery injury update

Montgomery left in the third quarter against the Colts and is officially questionable to return with a shoulder injury.

It’s unclear when he was injured, but the running back’s style of play lends itself to these potential issues. He carried the ball eight times for 37 yards and a touchdown and added three receptions for 36 yards before leaving.

With the Lions in full control, it’s not out of the question that Detroit could hold him out just in case. At this point in the season, the Lions’ focus is likely on a first-round bye and the playoffs, so there’s no need to rush him back.

Jahmyr Gibbs will handle most of the backfield work, with Craig Reynolds rotating in.
