Khalid comes out as gay after being outed: ‘I’m not ashamed’

Khalid opens up about his sexuality – and makes it clear that he’s happy with who he is. In a series of X posts on Friday, the American teenager the singer confirmed that he is gay after coming out on the platform.

“!!! there you go. next topic please lol,” the singer first wrote using the LGBTQ flag before replying to a fan confirm“I’m (gay)! And that’s okay.”

“I got out and the world continues to turn,” Khalid continued. “Let’s get this straight (lmao) I’m not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it doesn’t matter! But I’m okay with me .”

The posts came shortly after an X user, Hugo Almonte, went on a rant about the artists he’s had sex with, writing that “one of your favorite gay R&B singers” once offered him drugs and “tried to sit up and lie that I broke into his house.”

Almonte, whose own music has less than 750 monthly listeners, claimed that “the gay artists that are out right now” are “crap as hell.” He followed up the posts by sharing a photo with Khalid.

Khalid has yet to respond to Almonte’s claims, but responded to one user who wrote that “the cabinet was made of glass.” Khalid’s answer was graceful: “I did not hide anything! It’s just none of your business.”

Khalid’s team and Almonte did not immediately respond Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.

The R&B star was quickly defended by fans and other gay artists, including producers MNEK and Amorphous, who condemned Almonte’s post.
