Southeastern head coach Frank Scelfo discusses recent run that kept FCS Playoff hopes alive

HAMMOND, La. — Southeastern started the regular season 1-4 with losses to Tulane and Southern Miss and FCS top-25 programs like South Dakota State and Tarleton State.

Tulane is currently No. 25 in both the AP poll and the CFP rankings, while South Dakota State and Tarleton State are top-15 in the FCS rankings.

Scelfo believes the Lions’ non-conference gauntlet prepared them for the run they are on in Southland play.

Southeastern has won five of its last six contests and remains in contention for an at-large FCS playoff bid.

Their only loss in conference play was a 34-31 heartbreaker to No. 10 UIW at Strawberry Stadium on Oct. 26.

The Lions can keep their playoff hopes alive by ending the regular season with a win over rival Nicholls in the River Bell Classic.

The two will meet on Thursday at 6pm at John Guidry Stadium.
