Former Nashville high school coach charged with statutory rape

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A former Nashville high school coach has been arrested and charged, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Police said 32-year-old Tyler Forte surrendered to officers Wednesday night after a warrant was issued charging him with aggravated statutory rape.

Forte is accused of having multiple sexual encounters with a 17-year-old Donelson Christian Academy student four years ago, where he previously coached. The arrest affidavit says the two would meet at various locations in the county to have sex, despite their 11-year age difference.

Police began the investigation in September when the now-adult victim came forward. On Nov. 7, the now-adult victim made a “controlled phone call” with Forte at MNPD headquarters, according to the arrest affidavit. During the call, she confronted Forte about what happened between them and that she was 17 years old at the time, the affidavit states.

Forte acknowledged the encounters during the call and apologized to the woman on the phone and through text messages afterward, according to the affidavit.

Forte was arrested Wednesday night and charged with aggravated statutory rape. He posted bail early Thursday morning. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 10, 2025.
