BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – Watch out, parents! All Bedford County Public Schools will have a two-hour delay Thursday due to severe weather that rolled through the state overnight, causing power outages, downed trees and other debris on roadways.

The school said essential staff must report to school on time, while all other staff can enter 2 hours late.

Alleghany Highlands Public Schools will also open two hours late.

At this time, more than 7,000 Appalachian Power customers are without power across the Commonwealth, and close to 2,000 of those outages are in Bedford County.
