PayPal hit with ‘system issue’ affecting seller payments

PayPal said Thursday it is “experiencing a system issue” that appears to be disrupting merchants’ ability to process payments.

The San Jose, Calif.-based tech giant posted an incident report on its website Thursday, saying the outage “may affect multiple products in our manufacturing environment.”

“Sellers may encounter an elevated number” error messages.

“Our technical team is actively working to resolve the issue,” the company said.

Posten has requested a comment from PayPal.

The Downdetector website shows at least 8,700 reports from PayPal users of a power outage at 7:00 AM Eastern Time.

From However, by 8:30 a.m., the number of reported outages on Downdetector dropped significantly, and the site appeared to be accessible to users.
