NEW ‘Connections’ November 19: Clues and Answers for Game #527

If you are looking for help for today Connections puzzle, you’ve come to the right place.

To help keep your winning streak alive, Newsweek have put together some tips to guide you through Tuesday’s game.

Since the debut in New York Times in June 2023, Connections has quickly built up a large following. The puzzle challenges players to group words based on subtle links that combine logic with language skills. Today, it ranks as the publication’s second most popular game, just behind Wordle.

If you’d rather avoid spoilers, be careful when scrolling as the answers to the puzzle will be revealed at the bottom of the page.

How to play ‘Connections’

every Connections the puzzle contains 16 words that players must sort into four categories. The goal is to find the common theme for each category, represented by colors: yellow, green, blue and purple. The categories increase in difficulty, with yellow being the simplest, followed by green, blue and finally purple – the most challenging and often the most abstract.

Some words may seem to fit into several categories. Despite this, each group has only four unique words. If players get stuck, they can use the shuffle button to rearrange the words on the screen. Up to four mistakes are allowed before you ultimately “lose”.

Earlier this year, Connections developer and New York Times crossword editor Wyna Liu shared Newsweek her “best advice” for playing the game.

“Wait as long as you can before you guess,” she said. “You can see the board and have completely identified the category, seeing five words that could belong in that category.”
