Bomb squad called after suspicious object found at Buchanan Bus Station

The bomb squad has been called to Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow after a suspicious object was found.

SPT announced that the station was closed around 1.50pm on Wednesday with Killermont Street closed to traffic and pedestrians.

Police Scotland confirmed the closure due to a suspicious object found at around 1.10pm.

Explosive ordnance has been notified and the public is asked to avoid the area at this time.

A statement from Police Scotland read: “Buchanan Bus Station has been closed following a report of a potentially suspicious object at around 1.10pm.

“Killermont Street is closed to traffic and pedestrians. The public is advised to avoid the area.

“EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) has been notified and investigations are underway.”

A large cordon has been set up around the station after it was evacuated.

“Sorry everyone, Buchanan Bus Station is currently closed to passengers while police deal with an emergency,” said a spokesman for SPT, which operates the station.

“There is no access to the station for passengers, and no buses run in or out of the station.

“We will update you when the station reopens. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
