$1,900 Social Security Payment: These people will receive it on November 20th

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is set to issue a new payment. Each month, SSA processes millions of payments to beneficiaries of its programs, primarily retired workers and recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).

SSA follows a payment calendar based on recipients’ dates of birth to ensure accurate and organized distribution. Those born between the 1st and 10th of the month will receive their payment on the second Wednesday. Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th receive payments on the third Wednesday, while those born between the 21st and 31st receive payments on the last Wednesday of the month.

It is important to note that workers who retired before May 1997 and SSI recipients do not adhere to this payment schedule. They receive their checks or deposits during the first few days of the month, regardless of their date of birth. The only exception is when the first of the month falls on a weekend or holiday.

How Much Are Social Security Payments?

The amount of payments varies from person to person, as it is determined by considering several factors, including the contribution years and the age at which the beneficiary requested their payments. However, the SSA provides estimates that serve as a reference for people who want to plan their future and request early retirement. The average monthly payment for a retiree in 2024 is $1,907. But based on annual data from the SSA on the distribution of benefit sizes for recipients, only about 4.8 percent of them receive a check of this size. More than half, 55 percent, will receive a check for less than $1,900.

Who will receive their Social Security check on Wednesday, November 20?

Beneficiaries who will receive a payment on Wednesday 20 November are those whose date of birth is between the 11th and 20th of the month. This would leave only one payment corresponding to the month of November remaining, in addition to the first payment in December for SSI recipients:

  • Wednesday, 27: Recipients with a date of birth between the 21st and the 31st
  • Friday, 29: Recipients of supplementary security income (payment corresponding to December)

This is how payments will increase in 2025

year after year, The administration makes adjustments to the recipients’ payments to match the amounts with current inflationthereby avoid buying losses when inflation is high. This equalization is known as Cost of living adjustment (COLA).

In 2024, the COLA increase was 3.2%, while in 2025 it will be 2.5%. To figure out how much money you’ll receive with the COLA increase, add 2.5% to your current amount. The increase is reflected automatically starting with the first payment in 2025. For more information, visit the official SSA website.
