Suriname, Mexico are out to turn the series in the second leg of the quarterfinals

MIAMI – The 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League continues on Tuesday with meetings in the second leg of the Liga A quarter-finals, which will decide the place for both the 2025 CNL and 2025 Gold Cup finals.

Canada will host Suriname in the second game of their series after claiming a 1-nil win in the first game in Paramaribo, Suriname. The second match of the day features Mexico aiming for a comeback as they host Honduras after a 2-0 home win for Los Catracos in the first leg.

The overall score winner advances to the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals and the 2025 Gold Cup. Away goals will act as the first tiebreaker. If necessary, extra time and penalties will be played to determine a winner.

Canada vs. Suriname

Canada hosts Suriname in the second leg of their series at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.

The Reds are in the lead thanks to a late winner from Junior Hoyleten first legs. Jonathan David provided the assist for the game winner. Canada is looking to return to the CNL finals after finishing second in the 2022/23 edition.

Suriname will take the field with hopes of turning the series around and making more history this campaign with what would be its first CNL Finals appearance. Gleofilo Vlijter led Suriname’s attack in the first half with two shots, including a header in 59′ that hit the crossbar.

The meeting will be the second CNL matchup and the fourth ever meeting between the sides. Canada leads the series with three wins.

Mexico vs. Honduras

Mexico hosts Honduras in the second leg of their series at the Estadio Nemesio Díez in Toluca, Mexico.

Mexico will aim for a comeback after a 2-nil defeat in the first game. They like Raul Jimenez, Angel Sepúlvedaand Henry Martín will be looked to in goal as Mexico looks to secure a fourth appearance in the CNL Finals.

Luis Palma scored a brace to lead Honduras to victory in the first game. Goalkeeper Endrick Menjivar also had a great show, keeping a clean sheet while contributing four saves.

The teams meet for the fourth time in CNL action after the two quarter-finals in the 2023/24 edition. They meet for the 47th time together. Mexico leads the all-time series with 28 wins to nine for Honduras, while nine matches ended in a draw.
