Minnesota Weather: Showers fade early as temperatures slide Tuesday

Morning showers will give way to mostly cloudy skies as temperatures gradually drop throughout the day on Tuesday.

Tuesday outlook

Overnight rain will gradually taper off by late morning for the Twin Cities metro. As the rain dries out, cloudy skies will persist throughout the day, accompanied by west winds at 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Temperatures will begin in the 50s but drop steadily, reaching the upper 40s in the afternoon and dropping to the low 40s in the evening.

Possible snow Wednesday

Overnight, clouds will rebuild, allowing for light snow on Wednesday. The snow will start in western Minnesota where less accumulation is possible. The snow will move east, bringing a few flakes to the Twin Cities metro, though not too much.

Temperatures on Wednesday will be around freezing, although it will feel much colder with the wind. Gusts of wind will continue through Thursday before easing by the end of the week.

The rest of the week has more seasonable temperatures with highs in the 30s and nighttime lows in the upper 20s.
